Wildlife expert and a huge fan of New Zealand
Hi there! My name is Niels Thomas, and I’m a fanatic whale watcher with over 20 years of experience working with marine wildlife. I’ve always been fascinated by the ocean and its inhabitants, and there’s nothing I love more than getting out on the water and observing these incredible animals in their natural habitat.
I studied Wildlife Management in The Netherlands and have always been passionate about ethical and sustainable whale watching. That’s why I’ve decided to set up this website, to share my knowledge and experience with others who are interested in learning more about responsible whale watching in Kaikoura.
In my spare time, you can usually find me traveling to new and exciting destinations in search of whales and other marine life. I’m also a huge fan of New Zealand (obviously!) and the Lord of the Rings movies, so if you want to chat about Middle-earth or recommend a good hiking trail, I’m your guy.
